It is the policy of the Town Council of the Town of Cross City to promote, through fair, orderly and lawful procedure the opportunity for each person so desiring to obtain housing of such person’s choice in the town without regard to race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, sex, familial status, marital status, handicap or age, and that, to that end, to prohibit discrimination in housing by any person.The Town Council is authorized to implement the Town’s fair housing policy, as contained in Ordinance Number 236, as may be amended, in accordance with state and federal laws.

This ordinance is available for public inspection at the Office of Town Clerk, Cross City Town Hall, 99 NE 210 Avenue, Cross City, Florida 32628, during normal business hours Monday -Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

A written complaint of any local fair housing discrimination should be made to the Town of Cross City, P.O. Box 417, Cross City, Florida 32628-0417. The written complaint must be received within 45 days of the alleged occurrence. An investigation will be conducted within 60 days of receipt of the complaint and a determination of probable cause will be generated. If there is cause to believe discrimination took place, the Town Council will attempt to conciliate the parties.
